SmartGuard - Worth paying for?
Discussion
Personally I'd go with the GAP and the Tyre insurance. Natural law said to me that when I did not have tyre insurance, my run flats decided that they did not like me or the British roads. Once had 4 in 6 weeks. The cost of the tyre insurance easily will ease the cost per tire. As per the GAP the current situation with BMW's and fobs makes it worth it.

Yep - I will go for it but via a third party. Are there any that are better to use or most similar?I work for a dealer so will be biased but check the T's & C's of the online ones. Most will only pay book price rather than purchase price, they may have a claim limit too, ours is something like £12k and there will be other differences that will only become apparent if you need to claim. If the BMW one is the same as the one we offer (probably is) then it is in fact very good.

I found online offering £10k cover to invoice price for almost a quarter of the BMW price!!AndyM31 said:
Not sure to be honest, I just went straight with BMW. Tyre insurance was a one off charge of 350 for up to 6 tires in 3 years and the GAP was 400 odd for up to 15,000 again for the three years. The three years is because I will probably change it then.
Have not gone into details yet but the BMW GAP shown to me was £599 (IIRC) which is very high.not worth it at all.

gtechniq coatings are MUCH, MUCH better. if you're very lucky, if you tell them Ross with an E38 guided you (make sure you speak to Rob - if you choose to) you may get a little discount.
seriously good products.

Does anyone actually pay for this crap?
I suppose they must otherwise dealerships wouldn't offer it.
Likewise all the other add on cash cow crap the dealers try to push on idiots.
Yes lots of the general public, who think its some magical protection that will last the lifetime of the vehicle.I suppose they must otherwise dealerships wouldn't offer it.

Im supposed to sell a version of this at work, supagard, the other chaps do quite well with it but I just cant bring myself to try to sell it,its so obviously a load of bo$$ox I cant keep a straight face and Id rather milk an extra £500 from the punter by selling them something thats actually worthwhile!I suppose they must otherwise dealerships wouldn't offer it.

Gap is a nobrainer on a high value car BUT at the rite price! Those that slate it don't understand it!
Paint protection is better than having no protection at all but you would be better off giving the same money to a detailer or better still blow £150 at cleanyourcar.co.uk (no connection but great service) and have some fun yourself! A couple of coats of collinite will outlast any supadiamonds
