Appreciate you help with identifying some noises under braking.

1) When I brake on my Vanquish occassionally I get that Vvvv Vvvv noise that you get which is normally associated with worn brake pads. However, the pads are fine. The car is 2004 and has only done 7,000 Miles. It doesnt always happen but can be annoyoing. I have had all my suspension wishbones replaced and shedloads of other stuff just last week. Its been under a 120 point check at Aston and it passed with flying colours, so much so I have the Extended Aston Warranty. They say the pads are fine. Could it perhaps be the heat? I live in Dubai and it touching 40 degrees here now so may well just be them getting hot. (By the way, the car has also had the upgraded brakes fitted, which I believe we on the Vanquish S)

2) On my Porsche 73 RS Replica when I brake I get the age old annoying brake squeak at the end of braking...down from 10mph to 0mph. Even though I am a car nut I still don't fully understand why brakes squeak like this. Is it worn pads? or perhaps just becuase they are old and may have a bit of a shine on them?

Many garages out this way love to Skim the discs. Persoanally I think this is crap as it dramatically shortens the life of the discs. However, I could easily be wrong.

Thoughts?

could be contaminated pad's, they weren't bedded in properly or the anti squeal plates are missing.

or it might just be high performance pads they tend to squeal. I have Tarox track pads and they squeal like piggy's unless they are up to temp which in traffic day to day driving is never.

They may just need heat in them to bed them in abit or maybe dust/sand on disc/pads?

Ok,thanks.
Will give the car and pads a good wash when cold to try and get any dust off and see how it goes.

Am pretty sure the porker is something else though as they never used to squeak. It started happening recently.

Chances are they need the anti-rattle mechanism checking/fettling on both if they're not crazy performance pads - a liberal application of copper slip on the back usually helps a bit too.

Are they grooved discs?

I've always found grooved discs can make a fluttering sound when hot.

Not sure about the vanquish but regarding the brake squeal i had a similar problem on my old car.

It turned out to be the brake piston rubbing on the back of the pad and making the squeal so i changed the pads and covered the backs in copper grease and they were perfect and never made a sound for the rest of their lives.

Yes, grooved discs on the Vanquish. Not on the Porker. Thanks mate.

Ahh yes, good old copper slip. Havent seen that on the shelves over here but I am sure there is somthing similar. Think I will put some on the back of both and see if it works. I will update the thread with the results so anyone else with the same problems knows if it works. Cheers lads.
