Anyone got any experience of Lexus RXs? 2004+ vintage

Afternoon all.
Tried to do a search, but it seems to be down at the mo. Thinking of trading my Outback up to a last generation RX.
Are they really expensive to run? Is the Mark Levinson stereo standard? How do they handle the miles? Any info or ownership experience would be great.

The SE-L spec comes with the upgraded stereo, rear view camera, 18" alloys and a few extra bits and pieces. My old man has one and its been good as gold (touch wood).
Its a pretty thirsty motor though and with no diesel option can be expensive on the fuel. The tyres if you go for the Bridgestone Lexus spec are quite expensive but cheaper options are available. He gets his car serviced at a local guy who hes pals with and doesnt cost him to much but not sure what a "full price" service would cost. I think parts are quite pricey if something big goes wrong, eg the air suspension would cost a fair bit i would imagine.

My father-in-law had a 53 reg RX350 and he thought it was the best car he's ever had (and he's had Range Rovers, Porsches, top of the range BMWs, etc), he had it for 7 years and never had a fault with it. He swapped it for a new RX450 two years ago, wouldn't consider buying anything other than another RX. He is proper impressed with the MPG of the new one (30 MPG) as his old one only managed 18 MPG!

I had a 55 plate RX300 SE-L for about 9mths from Summer last year to a couple of months back. I came to this from another Lexus, a 55 plate GS430 which I had for about a year or so. Put nearly 20,000 on the RX in my ownership.
Pros: Really comfortable, tonnes of kit, Mark Levinson is great, reversing camera - useful, remote boot lid opening/closing a bit gimmicky but quite neat. No issues in my ownership, used main dealer for servicing which was very good versus other MD's I've used. Has air suspension which was useful in the 'light' off-road use that it was used for and a bit more settled when dropped for motorway.
Cons: 3litre V6 a bit thrashy, slow (although the hybrid's are quicker) compared to the GS a bit noisy. Got around 22/23mpg on average from the RX300. SE-L has a reputation for problems with air suspension if you read the forums. It's not the best looking car out there but when you're sitting inside then it doesn't really matter.
I would have kept mine were it not for the fact I changed companies and no longer have a fuel card. I am a big fan of Lexus. People get a bit sniffy about them being glorified Toyota and not having the brand/image or driving involvement of the German cars. However when you're buying a 6-7 year old car having the lower running costs of Lexus versus some of the costs I have incurred with running BMW and Mercedes equivalents then the Lexus wins hands down.

My Dad also has one... an RX400h. Very pleasant place to be, it has been very reliable for him but very dull and I wonder how long the shelf life is for the hybrid system to stay reliable.
My dad ran one for 3.5 yrs and 100k miles. The RX400h.It got about 25 MPG with a very heavy foot.
He liked it so much, he now has a RX450h. There were no problems with it at all in that duration - other than an inability to cope with snow with any grace.
