Purchased my audi last month, 61k on the clock, for 8k. Stupidly failed to apply handbrake properly on a hill, result was it smashed into a tree.

My bro in law has an A3, yet like you he insists on calling it 'the Audi'. Pet hate!

As for that damage, whats the boot floor like? I certainly wouldnt bet against a Cat D.

Haha sorry!

as for the boot, in the bottom right corner its crumpled, in a large, maybe the size of a football?

The damage doesnt look to bad in that photo to be honest. The rear wing, is alot more crumpled than it looks. Under the bumper, theres all sorts of mangled metal....

I reckon it will be. Remember its not just the cost of the repair, its the inflated courtesy car costs and stuff that drive up the cost

Is he going to claim against the tree?

And why don't people leave cars in gear?

Do you not get a courtesy car in the event of a fault accident? Didnt realise that

Usually only a very basic one, so there's no "inflated" cost, as there is if another driver's fault and you claim through an accident management company.

And if the car is written off, the time you're allowed to keep the courtesy car is very limited.

Because it's seen as old fashioned, don't recall it being taught when instructed, and newer cars tend to have disk brakes which don't bind (only real reason I've parked in gear in the past)

I bet he never turned his wheel to face the kerb either....

I'm confused. What's wrong with calling an Audi an Audi?

Definate write off imo. Prepare for a hefty rise in premiums!

That could be repaired quite easily.

Out of interest, why couldn't you see yourself driving it again?

Looks like a write off to me aswell. It may be an A3 but it`s still six years old and will very probably be more expensive to repair than it`s worth.

'What car do you have now?'
'An Audi'

If he had a Focus, he wouldnt say he had 'a Ford'

When someone asks me what car I've got, I give the manufacture then the model.

When refering to it when with people who know it, I call it the peugeot.
Not really a big issue is it...

I have an Audi Coupe. How would you like me to refer to it? "An Audi"? "A Coupe"? Just so I know not to annoy anyone.
