They're all diesels in their fleet. The only petrols they have are in the small audi's (2.0Turbo TSI's I think) and we want a big posey barge (more for the motorway cruising than anything).. They have got the petrol 3.2 Audi TT biggrin but it's a hundred quid more for the week frown and we need space for luggage/golf clubs etc.

The XF is a bit more 'posey' as you put it, a bit rarer and looks flashier. However, the Audi will swallow more luggage, and is more powerful I believe.

You're visiting the UK................why go German? The XF is the only one to have!

(Would you go to the US and accept a Toyota instead of the obligatory Yank Tank?)

I would probably go for the Mercedes, even though I would have expected at least a 3.2 CDi against the competition. Otherwise, I'd probably try the A6. It's not flash like the Jag but it should be quick.

You aren't missing anything by not having the V6 TT. It's supposedly worse than the 225 because that V6 is a weighty lump, spoiling the already poor handling balance and adding nothing in terms of performance.

based on the bi-turbo not being available yet (and certainly not through hire car companies), i'd get the Jag. I do own one, but it's the best of the line-up! It's faster than the current A6 3.0TDi, and the E250 is a mile off in terms of performance (2 seconds adrift to 62mph). The E350CDi however is a different proposition entirely, but i think it's still slower than the Jag. What's wrong with a BMW 530d anyway, beside not being british?
