Right basically my car is about to run out (and fail) its MOT. So I need a stop gap car to get around whilst its in getting some work done. Looking for something cheap with an MOT and tax.... but obviously this turns rapidly into interesting justification theories about V8 barges! lol

Basically I need a car asap. And going to see 2 cars tonight. Obviously will be 99% down to how they are in the flesh. But a general opinion could be fun. Which one would you plow your beer money into?

After speaking to both owners it sounds like a few quid could come off each price.

Or should I go proper bangernomics and get this!? lol

VW Scirocco for me..... classic car territory IMO and comes with a full MOT and a load of spares as well.

If it really is a short term stop gap, then it'd have to be the scirocco. That list of spares has got to worth more than the £850-£900 you'll pay for the car.

Plus, it's so much cooler.

with the price of the other 2 I wouldn't be worrying about the Audi. Can't split the other 2 though

I always have a soft spot for the 16v bmw engine.

So that would be my choice.

Cheers guys. Scirocco would win no option if it wasnt the galactical miles slightly putting me off....

How old are you, the VW has a few modifications on it so it will be expensive to insure for some. I'd go for the BMW, cheaper to buy, (possibly) cheaper to insure and easier to sell when you're finished with it.

If the BMW is clean then it's the one - but look at the bodywork etc. carefully.

I'm after a tidy 318is with the M kit myself. Always liked the M42/M44 engines they have.

The Scirocco GTII is a nice car, no mistake but the BMW will be a better steer and more reliable to boot, on top of being galvanised and cheaper!

The BMW is a safer bet. It would be more economical, more refined, easier to sell, its cheaper....the list continues...

But

I'd be purchasing the VW. It's so much cooler!
