t'other half has no interest in cars beyond ensuring (in as much as you can) that she's not stranded somewhere due to reliability issues... that being said she is toying with the idea of a new car at some point over the next 12 months with this in mind the question is...
is it better to sell her car (Astra):
1 - now at 2 years old when there is still the balance of the 3 year warranty remaining?
2 - next year
3 - makes no difference
4 - px to dealer against a new car (I'd have thought this the worst option)
in all cases the replacement is not finance dependant and (currently) no particular model is being thought about....

It doesn’t really matter.
Cars depreciate.
Generally speaking, they drop to 2/5 of the price in three years of ownership, then they level out a bit for the next 3 years.
In terms of getting the most money back for the car compared to getting good use out if it then selling at 5 years old is generally a good age.
Selling between 2 and 3 years old means that you’re paying a huge amount of money for a few years of car ownership.
