CD Slot Mounts
Discussion
Posted this in the Sat Nav forum, but no response so posting here (cool story bro etc.). Anyway...
I'm needing something to mount my phone on in the MR2 to use hands free & Satnav. There's the usual windscreen suction jobbies, but there's a couple of these on fleabay which creates a mount by poking it into your CD player slot...

Now personally I'd avoid this as I don't want to risk damaging my CD head unit, but was wondering if anyone here had tried them? Are they safe to use?

Just bought a new proclip mount for my 320d to mount my Brodit iphone holder. Other than the proclip, it all came forward from my previous car.
I got my stuff from dsl developments, a very helpful bunch.
You can search for the correct mount for your car on their website. They find a way for it to clip into your dash but wiothout having to drill any holes, very clever.

So you lose access to the radio and have to look down at the gearstick to see the satnav. I think there's a few reasons windscreen mounts are popular...
I can still get to the volume/next/prev track controls on the left, and I don't use the radio so no need to access the numbered buttons underneath. Besides I can just plug the phone into the aux port then just play my music from that if I wanted. It's not like I'm blindly following the satnav every 5 seconds - it's a better solution than leaving it running (voice mode) in the cubby hole then having to fish it out when I need the occasional visual guidance. Hopefully it will avoid taking a wrong turn on hoons

My main worry was it would damage the internal CD intake/extractor wotsits or foul with the spinning CD
Fortunately it seems ok so far. Could do a lot worse for a tenner. The CD mount will do for now, but the Brodit stuff looks good and for not much more from DSL Developments too... Not sure about their diagrams tho
