Just wondering really... i'm covered for SDP + Commuting, and in 12 years of driving (and recently biking too), i've never been asked where i commute to.

Surely it would make a difference? As an example, i currently commute a 140mile round trip to central london - but my girlfriend commutes just 10miles to a village in the middle of nowhere (and some people obviously less than that).

Any reason the insurance co's don't look at this when deciding our premiums?

Presumably it is just a flat rate percentage applied to everyone and evens itself out with regards to risk. The companies don't actually care about giving the customer value after all.

It doesn't matter because they probably ask for your annual mileage anyway i.e. 75000 miles per year SDP&C compared to 10000 miles per year SDP&C, compared to 10000 miles SDP&C and 15000 miles business.

If telematics become more widespread then it will matter even less, because it will open up PAYG policies.
