Quick answer required battery terminals

About to fit a new battery. Do I apply Vaseline to battery clamps and terminals BEFORE fitting the clamps, or do I put Vaseline on terminals AFTER I have fitter the clamps?

Before. Thin coat. Just don't sit on the battery post after applying it.
