I'm absolutely in love. (Rover content)

I'm looking for a Rover 75 at the moment, which has included looking at lots and lots of pictures!
It just looks absolutely like a Rover should. The design is wonderful. It looks wonderful as a classic saloon, but the MG variant looks so right too.
Completely refreshing compared to hilariously over-styled modern stuff!

I think these are a very handsome, distinctive car. Not very PH but I think I would rather have a wood n leather Rover version to waft around in. However, I couldn't live with that dashboard - specifically those oval dials. Unless it was dirt cheap of course. It just looks absolutely like a Rover should. The design is wonderful. Aren't they all dirt cheap which is part of the attraction?I've always liked them my self, think I'll have to scratch the itch with a beleathered 6 cylinder one soon.
We hired a 1.8t estate 75 to waft us up the motorway, carrying all our gear for our wedding, way back in 2003 (4 years happily married this year).
Loved it, have never seen what the Clarkson had against them. Mind I did only have it for a long weekend...
Out of interest, spotted that this months issue of Car Mechanic mag have got a buying guide on the 75, if you need a little more inspiration.

The dials are pretty good actually - everything lights up in a soothing orange at night on the Rover, and if you turn the rheostat down it all looks like a 1940s radio set.

Partly what I don't like about it! Never a fan of fully back lit white dials (see also 'sporty' Vauxhalls, Peugeots etc). Hope the OP is looking for a pre-facelift version, much better looking. Should have left the Rover alone and just applied it to the MG version IMO.

Yes, looking for something pre-2000I kind of liked them when they were first launched - but they haven't aged well. Most pre-facelift cars are looking very tired now, and the facelift cars had awful panel fit around the nose combined with massively downgraded interior trim quality.
The other thing that really puts me off them now is that they've joined early Jag. X-Types as the choice of dole scroungers trying to appear to be a cut above all the other dolies.

That's interesting... I was thinking how fresh a lot of the older ones still looked in comparison to other vehicles of the same vintage! The other thing that really puts me off them now is that they've joined early Jag. And the interior quality thing is wrong. Only various bits were changed, and that's easily rectified cheaply!

The only thing that's a struggle to fix is the poor radio reception on later cars - they changed the rear windscreen to have fewer aerial elements and the earlier ones are NLA.And the interior quality thing is wrong. Only various bits were changed, and that's easily rectified cheaply!

never got the rover fetish some people have, a car company that made cars so dire they where able to go bust in a BOOM!
Aspergers must be more common than first thought
I agree Rover made some crap cars towards the end but never considered this to be one of them, a cut above IMO.Aspergers must be more common than first thought
