They seem to be on a roll these days, profits up to £1.5Bn, increased market share in France and Germany, and this. Hope they can keep it going.

Brilliant news. I'm glad they've done so well, especially given the risks they took on design, especially with the new XJ (which is a real engineering marvel - it weighs less than the XF!)

Congratulations to Jaguar on the award.

Of course, according to many on PH these awards are meaningless, and if a true reflection of reliability and positive owner experience these surveys would have the French makes at the top, joined by Fiat, instead of them languishing near the bottom.

Well done to Jag, and the other makes who have made the effort to keep near the top of the pile.

I'm really happy for them..... One of the few cars I think I'd like to buy new nowadays. Just for the full Jag experience

Jag's still not selling many though is it. How long will they keep proping it up with LR money?

They really need to get America moving again, or break through in Asia.

unfortunately i think American's minds may be to set after 30 years of woeful reliability.

They're making some fabulous cars at the moment, and it's great to see a real turn around in fortunes.

I go all wobbly at the knees when I see an XK-RS! Glorious looking (and sounding!) beast.

Is it not an engineering disaster that the XF (thinking of MPG/company tax requirements...) weighs more than an XJ?!

That's probably true but then how would BMW's sales look if their line up only consisted of the 5, 6 and 7 series?

Well perhaps Jag would do even better if they could engineer a bit more efficiency into their most popular models, to compete with the Hermans:

The lightest of the XFs is 1745kgs. (2.2 diesel) compared to a new BMW 520d which is 1695kgs, so not especially lardy really, considering it's by no stretch a poverty spec model. The XJ in 3 litre diesel comes in at 1796kgs, compared to the XF 3 litre diesel at 1810kgs. A BMW 730d comes in at 1915kgs by comparison.

Most of that difference can be found in the aluminium chassis on the XJ.

Well, Jag made 40,000 cars in the last 9 months. Land Rover made 176,000.

Don't believe me?
Read page 9 of this -> http://www.jaguarlandrover.com/pdf/JLR_Investor_Pr...

The evoque is a runaway success. I hope the F-type does something similar for Jag, because they need it to.

Other way around - is it not very impressive that an XJ, with its additional size, quality and kit, is lighter than an XF?

great news. Remember that BMW sell more cars in the UK alone then jaguar sell in the entire world. And I think JLR are doing it absolutley right: well built, stylish, reliable, technologically advanced vehicles. A great base on which to build.

Now they need to fill the gaps: a Boxster/Z4 rival, and a real 3 series competitor. They cant do real volume (and there is little real profit in it) so leave the Mini class. Keep on building cars with lots of lovely profitable options,a nd keep on investing in the UK and its workforce. Lovely...

...God I hope politicians dont think they can get involved and bask in the reflectvied glory. They'll only ruin it...

This is a particularly good result for Jag because the 'nicer' the car the harder it is to do well in a JD power type survey as it's all about perception and expecation. Thats why the Kia did well. You expect a Kia to be **** so when it's average you are very happy. You expect a top end car to be flawless so when 18 months into the ownership a bulb blows and the dealer doesnt pick the phone up within 3 seconds, you are unhappy.

Simplistic example but you get my point.
