Hello, first of all to everyone as i am new to the forum.

I am looking for my next car. I have a budget of £30,000. I will be doing approximately 2500 - 3000 a year therefore petrol consumption isn't an issue. I will be keeping the car for about four years and don't want to be loosing alot of money in depreication. I would a prefer an automated manual car. I don't mind whether it's a convertible / coupe. It needs to be no more than 10 years old. Finally, could someone give some estimate as to how much profit a dealer normally has in a £30k car.

Any suggestion welcome. Thanks!

996 turbo

Hard to say on the profit. As long as you buy at the market price you should be OK.

BMW M5 Touring...they're getting rarer, and are supposed to be the last M5 Touring?

I'm sure you'd get your money back after 4+ years if not make a profit.

Love the looks, love the sound, love the go...

Hate the auto-box frown

I'd buy something more track-focused if I was doing so few miles - I'd want all the 'experience' I could get. M3 CSL would be high up on the list, as would an early 996 GT3. Oh and an E92 M3 would be a great shout as you can get them for £20k ish...but you'll need the further £10k to run it hehe

Agreed.

These have been climbing steadily in value over the last 24 months, too (in part to so many getting written off) so in 4+ years time, you should see a decent return if you buy wisely and look after it.

Dealer profit is impossible to answer as the cars can be sourced from all sorts of unusual transactions.

The only negative for me is the autobox unless I buy maybe 2007 / 2008 in which the gearbox was different i think. But thanks for your suggestion thumbup

I am just concerned about whether or not i could get one under 50,000 miles in my price bracket. As i have seen few with quite low mileage for a few months which still haven't sold. But like the car biggrin
