My Brother had his wifes car keyed this evening. An 05 plate metalic red Audi A4 estate while he and his family were out. He's pretty gutted and his wife is quite upset. Seems like just a random thing for no reason at all, but its down to the metal in places and not just lightly done and all but one door including the boot and bonnet.
The car is probably worth 4-5K as a trade price I think, so guessing if it needed a full repaint, the insurance may not bother ?
Anyone suffered the same with their car and offer any advice ? I was wondering if they would just re-lacquer the panels where the clear coat is damaged and may fully paint those which are down to the metal, not sure, any body shop people about ?
Thanks

Where did this happen, public car park or on the street/outside someone's house?
I can't understand why someone would do this.

Try not to get on the wrong side of him then. He sounds like a nasty piece of work.

I thought it was quite funny. Maybe if you learnt to write properly then that sort of issue would not arise.
Does it matter ? I would ask why it bothers you to even make the effort to reply, but it would be like trying to understand why people also bother to key cars at random.

Of course it matters. If it didn't, we'd all eventually end up communicating by grunting at each other.

I think its better if the grammar nazis lay off under the circumstances, or failing that go play in traffic or something.

To the OP, have you pissed anyone off? I dread to say it but if the car is repaired do you think it might happen again?

Quite.

The Grammar Nazis pick up on really minor things, such as apostrophes in the wrong place. What you typed was clumsy, lazy English. The sort that is becoming all to prevelant.

making this thread has given me a better idea of why people are petty and pathetic enough to randomly key a car thank you

The car was approx 10 miles from their home and at the side of the road in a small parking area. It was pure chance it was parked their , so seems a totally random thing to do.

Are you implying I'd key someone's car because I can't stand seeing poor, lazy English?

Then again, Kent. Says it all.

Sounds like the work of a drunken group of chavs, no doubt a couple of them gasping in awe as the perpetrator impresses them with his creative vandalism..

(Or it could be a her..)

Maybe they had parked in a place that some tt considers to be 'theirs'.

Okay, I'll be one of the first to post a halfway useful reply...

Sorry to hear about that. Having had my car keyed I know how sick it makes you feel. It doesn't matter if it's a £500 shed or a £100k Aston. It's annoying as hell, and makes you question what the f*ck society's come to.

My advice, get a quote from a decent back street. They might not do a mint job but they'll get it looking good. When my car was keyed I took it to a good paint shop for a quote and they said £1400. A day’s work with some colour matched touch-up paint, some wet and dry and some polish and you'd be hard pressed to tell it ever happened.

Most importantly, don't brood on it. It probably wasn't because he / she deserved it as many will no doubt come on here and spout . It'll be some sh*tbag chav who's realised they f*cked their life up, so rather than do something about it they'll just do what they can to make everyone else’s life unpleasant.

And the comedians... grow up.
