Stupid classified ads
Discussion
I thought this would be a good idea to start a collection of the biggest lies or examples of blatant stupidity you've seen in ads for cars.
Having seen many Freelander ads stating "propshaft removed for economy", which unfortunately must dupe a good many buyers unaware of the fact that a) its actually to disguise a knackered viscous 4wd system and b) doesnt do anything for the economy at all.
However, the best howler I stumbled across recently is this:

"the engine management light is permanently on but this does not effect the way the car drives "

To be fair, my sister's shed of a Seat Leon has had the engine management light on for a few months or so and it drives well. Obviously something is wrong (think it's the lambda sensor), but it drives well (for shed money).
"Upgraded alloy wheels/suspension etc." annoys me. A lot of the time, it should read "s
t Halfords Ripspeed wheels/cheapest coilovers from eBay".

My engine warning light has been on in my Xsara for years. Every time I replace the sensor it goes for a few months then back on. I just ignore it now. It says pollution problem or something which makes me feel more manly for harming the environment.
As for stupid ads I really am not a fan of people putting NOT Model ABC in the ad so more of them come up in a search rather than the car I am hunting.

The one that annoys me, and it's prolific on Auto Trader, is where you see the title and picture, then you click on the ad and see in the description "Car XXX now sold, but we now have car YYY for sale, pictures to follow..."
Cheap-ass traders trying to squeeze two ads in for the price of one.

All prices seem to be something like '£5648' or '£7361' with the bigger dealers (Stratstone and others). I'm not sure if this is an effort to suggest it's priced as low as possible or what. I'm looking around at the minute and this pricing structure puts me off calling, don't know why.

I thought it was some sort of dealer code, so a salesman could tell how long it has been in stock.wildcat45 said:

To add another couple to this which always make me laugh:
The car is totally standard & unmodified (and then goes on to list a load of mods)
This car is in mint condition (but the pictures show rust and dents)
Unrelated to the original title though but still annoying:
The sellers that "brought" their car
