I posted this in the BMW forum http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f...

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the earlier 330i compared with the later efficient dynamics version.

Trying to make a decision and struggling!

Get the Efficient Dynamics - it will always retain its value better than the non.

I've had a 335d non Efficient Dynamics and a 320D LCi and that was efficient dynamics on a spirited drive across the country it did 900 miles to the tank and still had some left.

One concern I had was that the ED car is from an indy dealer so would be without a BMW warranty.

From what I've read the ED engines can be a bit temperamental.

From the research I did, the mpg claims of the ED model are bullish, whilst the engine is more unreliable.

I have an '06 330i and on a run I can get 40mpg.

Urban / Semi urban in traffic gives about 24mpg

Hooning over the welsh countryside gives about 25mpg

the overriding factor in my choice was the reliability of the N52 engine as I am running it out of warranty. So far so good with 71K miles on all trips to the garage have been routine servicing...

Cheers mate, that's kind of what I was thinking.

Father in law has a 325i on a 55 plate and a 325i convertible on a 57 plate and he was saying similar.
