Just had a call from my partner after I asked her to take my punctured wheel and tyre down to the local tyre place to get it repaired. I've been using this place for years and never had a problem with them, probably because I'm quite clued up if they try and bullst me.

Anyway, back to the call. She phoned me to say they couldn't repair the tyre and it needed a new one. The reason they gave is that the side walls were "nackard" because its been driven on whilst flat. Now, I'd love to know what all seeing fking eye these bds use to know how these things of occured. Because I'm pretty fking sure that I was the one who changed the fking thing when I found it 3/4 flat after work! It was onlt a slow fking puncture from a small nail sort of thing it the thing!

Winds me up knowing that if my Mrs hadn't called me, or if it had been some other woman/person who didn't know much about this sort of stuff, they would have just bagged £50 odd quid for a new tyre. Then, more than likely repaired the punture and earned another £30 from selling it as a part worn! Cheeky little fking pricks!

Guaranteed that they will never receive my custome again!

As you were biggrin

mm did you check the pressure?

when they removed the tyre there were probably loads of small rubber marbles inside. these come from the flex point where the sidewall meets tread where the low pressure allows the rubber to rub on itself. this makes this area of rubber very thin. they may have well saved you a disaster.

I didn't check the pressure. The puncture occured when I parked up for work. Upon inspection, there were loads of nail tack sort of things over the road and subsequently, in my foooking tyre! hehe

I've had the same thing recently and got the tyre fitter to show me, sure enough the tyre sidewall had a line all around the inside with lots of bits of rubber lying in the bottom of it. He wasn't going to repair it and i agreed. Having had a blowout after hitting a pothole at speed last year i don't want a repeat anytime soon.

£50...Less the £15 the puncture would have probably cost = £35 difference..

Which may save your life in the future,..PLUS you have a brand new tyre that will last you a couple of years.

Don't be a tight arse.........smile

Thanks for the Rant Ratings. I think I'm getting a lot more angry than what is probably considered reasonable. Best lay off the roids I think hehe

I have had quite a few punctures, some of which have been refused a repair so I have some idea of what can/can't be repaired. But this was a simple slow punture, not even been driven on which I am confident can be repaired. Just need to take it to a decent place me thinks!! biggrin

Ordinarily, I would completely agree. But the tyre has only been on the car for 4 months! frown Got loads of life in it yet! hehe

Plus, it's a good tyre (Dunlop SP Fast Response) which would have been replaced with Mr WanLi's finest recycled pencil erasers if the Tyre Place had their way!! biggrin
