navman vehicle tracking
Discussion
i have a small electrical company and i have installed navman tracking systems to my vehicles. i overheard one rather gobby employee laughing about having the last laugh and the word trackerblocker was used. does anyone have any experience with navman tracking systems or said "trackerblockers". apparently these devices are for sale on amazon for around 20 quid. do they work and if so how will i be aware of it ? many thanks pistonheaders.

Navman will log the last known position. If it jumps all of a sudden from point X to somehwere else then you have reason to believe the tracker hasn't worked.
I would then ring Navman and ask them for tech support as to why this has happened and make it known to the employee that Navman are looking into why the tracker didn't work properly. This may then send the message home to them that gaps in the Nav information are being noticed and their blocker's life maybe short lived.
Just my 2ps worth.

I work for a large company and have a tracker on my van, I wouldn't dream of using a blocker as its not worth losing my job over but I know some of the lads do, it's gross misconduct according to our company handbook.
If your tracker logs total mileage driven it's very easy to check the vehicles odometer and see if it tallies with the readings from navman, I know that some activate the jammer whilst on site, go home/skive for a few hours then go back to site and turn it off, showing that the van has never moved when in fact it has.
Tracker Blockers can be had for under £15 on eBay, they just create a electrical field so the gps receiver cannot acquire satellites..
I'm of the opinion that if someone wants to be devious and use a jammer you wouldn't want them working for you as they cannot be trusted, I'm paid to do a job and I'm thankful that I have it, if the company wants to know where I am on work time it's fair enough, don't get me started on limiters though

What ever happened to simply trusting your employees to do a good job?
If you suspect some are taking the Michael then it would be cheaper and easier to suggest their performance isn't good enough and check on them via phone every now and then.
If my company wanted to fit me with a tracker I would be angry too, although I have nothing to hide.

thanks for your input folks. the reason why i fitted the navman was because i was getting feedback from certain customers that my lads were always turning up late. had the systems fitted without the lads knowledge and didnt tell them for a couple of weeks. our fears were correct. late starts, going missing on unauthorised trips. once the lads were informed it performed a minor miracle overnight. everyone now starts and finishes at the correct time.amazing eh ?

It's funny how these tracking systems can get people's backs up.
The company I work for specialises in tracking people, and despite the fact its for the clients own safety a lot of the time, (as well as lowering their companies insurance costs) they hate the fact that they are being tracked.
The system we use shows their position down to a few meters, but I think they think that there's a team of people sat watching their every move 24/7. The reality is, we rarely look at them unless we get a system alert from them, where we would contact them personally to investigate.
Some of our staff are tracked too, and it can be amusing to wind them up by showing them their movement history over a period of time that shows them spending a lot of time at a certain females house! (Yes, we know what your up to, even if you deny it at work!!!)

Trackers fitted to our company vehicles for last few months. It's cut my workload as I no longer have to take up the slack for all the bloody skivers. We have forward facing cameras that are automatically activated by sudden movement of the vehicle (It's an artic so sudden movemements are usually crap driving or collision avoidance). I can also activate it manually to record nobby driving that may affect me, it gets used a lot...
For work, a good idea that I wasn't too keen on when I first heard about it.
