Hello from Miami Beach!!

So Guys n Gals, what a place!
However this isn't so much a postcard, rather a short petrol head affirming message that apart from the occasional Prius, V8, V6 and straight 6 petrol power still rules.
No BMWs or their equivalent with a 'd' at the end, and plenty of nice interiors that aren't just resale black.
I'm wafting around in an Infiniti G37 which is ok save for the worlds stupidest auto box, which is either lazy or apoplectic when the slightest pressure is applied.
Road manners here are good... Über relaxed on the whole. And... I love the turn on red light rule, where you can treat them as give way.
Back on Sunday.
Hope we haven't been burgled this time....

sorry to rub it in but having spent nearly a year in Florida and then having lived in california which was average to say the best, I now reside in tropical Australia where its hot all year round. Thats right- roof down about 350 days a year. The other 10 days of sunshine I am usually back visiting the UK and I wont write about the five bad rainy days.

Hello from San Jose, CA
I flew out from the UK on business last Sunday and rented a Lincoln Town Car from the airport. I'm slowly working my way through the available fleet at Budget/Avis SFO.
This thing shouldnt have a steering wheel, it needs a rudder and a sail on top. I only got it just because I had to try it, idle curiosity. It's not great to be honest, disappointing pickup and not quite the torque I thought it'd have. Also, it's broken down twice so far, engine management light on, 8mpg average. Goes back tomorrow to be replaced by Vlad the Impala.
The Infiniti QX56 I had a month or so ago was very cool though.

I do enjoy Miami Beach and will be there beginning of August for a day or two, but I much prefer the more chilled lifestyle and the seas from the West coast of Florida which is where I'll be spending most of my time! Shame
Good quote. From somebody based in Tampa I agree. The west is best!

Anywhere stateside is pretty good with driving to be honest, i was in Wisconsin earlier this year and i had a rental Nissan and i had 5 days of the most relaxed driving imaginable, even rushhour was a pleasure dur to extremely light steering and auto box and the comfiest Sofa seats i have ever had the pleasure of sitting in.
Certainly not a place you want to be in a hurry in though as all the speed limits are so low!

Weather has generally been good. Partly cloudy so still plenty of sun and actually not much rain downtown or near the beaches.
Well the Lincoln Town Car was the other choice but I figured it would be too much like piloting a cruise liner so chose the Infinity. What I was really hoping for was the mid size Cadillac. The 'cash for clunkers' scheme means most cars seen are recent models... Very little in the way of old school Americana unless they're restored classics. Sad to say it seems as many of the big American names have lost their market to Japanese and 'economy' models... I.e. less than 3.0 litres!

I will arrive in Miami on Tuesday. I hope the weather is ok? I keep checking and it apears to be raining all the time
Hardly any rain. The forecasts say it's stormy, but that's just because there is a chance of a storm. We had thunder yesterday, but roasting hot today. The beach is awesome
