Been looking at 3.0 Z4 Coupe's to replace my E46 but I noticed a red 2006 2.5 SE Roadster that someone had put in the wrong section. Only 10 miles away from me as well and quite cheap.

A few questions;

- I currently have a facelift E46 325i M-Sport 2002. Is the engine output increased on a 2006 Z4? How do people find this engine in this car?
- Whats the difference between the SE and Si?
- Would I suffer endless hairdresser/gay comments if I were to buy one? I like to think the Z4 is a bit more 'manly' than a TT Roadster due to being rear wheel drive wink
- Does the Z4 have a 'normal' key rather than the 'plastic' key?

Here is the car in question;

It'll be the same engine as the 325Ci you have, M54B25.

Si was brought out in 2006, its part of the 'revamp' they done of the cars, so more power etc. SE and Sport are trim levels, there isn't much between them on a Z4, the SE is fine, but try to get a car with sport seats, the world of difference.

Forget what other people say, get a car you like and will enjoy driving. I used to think that, but once you're driving across the south of France in 30degree sun with the top down, you will forget what people say. Then laugh when you pass them in their golf.

Most Z4's have the BMW diamond key.

That example is average. It'll be the facelift as its a 56 plate, it has the best wheels (BMW 108), but its not got the sport seats and isn't a 3.0. You really should try to get a 3.0.

Whats your budget? I take it upto £9k?

The SI is a different gen of engine, the 3.0 went from 230hp to 256hp or something like that.

Personally I truly don't understand the hairdresser comments - it's a fking rwd sports car and in this instance a fairly fast pokey one and with a soft top. To run and drive such a car you've got to have at least passing interest in cars, some sort of acceptability that you'll put up with the extra noise/hassle of an open top vehicle and some degree of driver ability to not chuck it in a ditch within 2 weeks ownership.

Surely a small engined, easy to park city hatch would be more of a hairdressers car?

OP, do have weird friends?

Seriously, where does this idea of 'hairdressers' cars actually come from?

As to gay.... so what?

Oh good lord not another "is it a Hairdresser/Gay car" thread.

Unless said car can do you a perm and set whilst driving, I'd say a no to it being a Hairdressers car.
Unless said car has an unhealthy obsession with Madonna, Steps and living well outside it's financial means whilst having anonymous sex with multiple partners (Well as we are going with sweeping generalisations on here anyway), I'd say no to it being a Gay car.

Seriously, don't concern yourself with other peoples thoughts, last time I looked we buy a car for ourselves, not for what other people might think about it.
