Inappropriate car / house combinations ?
Discussion
I took a short cut today through a nearby 'local authority' area, not a bad one by any means, but at the lower end of the local housing scene. Anyhow, I did a double take at the sight of an F430 on a drive, with a half car cover over the top. Looked like a real one, i.e. not an MR2 version ! Surprised me, but fair play, if they could buy a different house, but instead are splurging it on the motor... So, anyone else got seen some unexpected combo's ?
I rent a couple of car storage slots in a caravan storage place, open fronted but under cover, currently there is my Capri and Suzuki Alto, an 80s Merc S Class,2 Citroen DS's then a ruddy Aston DB5 in the corner under an old cover, never seen it move or anyone go near it but it must still be well into six figures worth of car!

On the daily commute I daily pass what looks to be a underwhelming semi on a main rd with a current GTR and a RS4 parked up with no garage. I shudder to imagine insurance costs!
Also near the mothers house is an ex council with a modern roller parked up..
Pre kids I have to admit priorities were different but now houses hugely out rank heavily depreciating metal but each to their own...

Average house price at the moment here is about 210k I would say.
It's a smart road. Neighbour has an Audi A6 and an Infinity GS37 for the weekend, Guy 6 houses down has a 59 reg GTR, another house a brand new Mercedes 4x4 (M Class) and I hope to add to the collection soon.
The majority of people here have new or almost new cars (us included) but run of the mill hatch backs and the like.
For me its a case of "If you wait for the right time, you'll never get it" kind of thing.
It's not a dump here so a more upmarket car is 'safe' but I would say they don't fit in really, you wouldnt associate people that drive cars like that, that live here!

There's been an Evo 9 parked on the drive of a pretty s
tty house since 2007 round here. Not far away is another Evo in a slightly nicer area, still not somewhere I'd walk through at night though.
Back in Sutton there's a chap who runs a limo company (I think?) and lives on one of the main roads to Sutton, not a very nice area at all. Yet he has a Lincoln and Rolls-Royce pair of limos, as well as a rather old classic car parked on the drive.

Bradford has got to be the top of the list for this topic...
Would definitely agree, In my uni days the street I used to live in had a murcielago always parked in it. I used to cringe walking past it, the alloys were kerbed, swirl marks all over the paint, not a well looked after car at all. It was a pretty s
tty area like, mainly small terrace houses and the area had a very high crime rate. My flat mate got mugged twice and a few students who lived a few doors down got broken into and stabbed to death!http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bradford/848236...
Not the kind of area you expect to see a lambo in, the car just shouted out 'dealer'

My local vicar lives in an 8 bedroom mansion and drives a base spec Mk2 Micra auto.
He has remote control wrought iron gates at the bottom of his driveway.
Yes but in pretty sure a lot of vicars are given a house and company car as part of the job, might not be in this case, but I'm aware of similar instances. He has remote control wrought iron gates at the bottom of his driveway.
