The price on these is very tempting ( normaly £500 a pair ) however are the side wall repairs shown in the ad actualy doable to a proper standard and if so what should I look for if I go to inspect them.

I've no issue with running repaired tyres and have done on litre sports bikes and quick cars before however the repairs have always been in the tread area.

I was under the impression that repairs were usually only recommended across the top of the tyre, and even then, the repair should be at least a specific distance away from the tyre wall/ side. I would give those a miss personally.

The rubber may well be professionally vulcanised, but what caused that sort of damage to both tyres. It's the potential horrors that may be lurking beneath those patches that would worry me! Personally, I never touch second hand tyres - whilst it continues to be just four small patches of rubber, taking all manner of stresses and strains, that keeps me, my kith and kin in contact with the road I will never take any chances.
