Morning and Guten Tag from the land of Lederhosen, unrestricted Autobahnen and Labskaus (not to mention Fräuleinwunder, Doppelkupplungsgetriebe and Kehrwoche).

May I open just another "what car" thread (and my first on PH ever) - I am looking for a car to fit into my, well, hybrid lifestyle of business (am working in a PE boutique) and leisure (Slowhand would shed a tear because I would be an ideal role model / anchorman for his little corner shop on Piccadilly). It needs to be a classic, it needs to have a very nice interior, it can be expensive.

I use the car to commute 3 km to my office and also for trips across Europe. I never do more than 10000 km/year. Oh, and it will live outside as I do not have a garage.

I have already narrowed it all down to a rather short but delightful list:

- Bentley Arnage (Red or green lable, I do not care too much about the engine, needs to be in right colour, i.e. navy/wildberry/racing green/grey). 40k-50k EUR.
- Bentley Brooklands/Turbo R. Needs to be Post 1996MY for road tax reasons (otherwise road tax will be a hefty 1200 EUR/year). 30k EUR in top condition.
- RR Corniche coupe/convertible. Either as a period classic (early one in old english white w/red leather) or a late one (black w/magnolia). From 40-70k EUR).

- Range Rover Vogue/Supercharged (current model, either 2002-2005MY or 2005-2009MY with red/white rear lenses). Would suit the leisure part of the equation. In grey or green (both hard to get in Germany). 25-25k EUR.
- "Classic" Range, in green, needs to be in top condition. Can be RHD.

- X358 XJ LWB - poor man's Arnage, but big and wafty. In black or grey w/20" Carelias. 30k EUR.
- Pristine/rebuilt Daimler Double Six S3 with magnolia leather/piping, in as-new condition. Extremely rare to find, but do-able. 15-20k in restored condition.

- 911 996 C4S wide-body or even the Turbo (both as coupe + Tiptronic), in a coupe-esque colour scheme (i.e. navy blue with bisquit rouched
leather). 30k - 45k EUR.

- W221 S500L or CL500, in black, 19" AMG wheels. 30 (for limo) to 50 (for coupe).

I am not interested in "stealth cars" (i.e.rep-mobiles with a big engine), "sports cars" (as in die-hard manuals with wings) or too exotic classics (Daimler DS420, shark-finned Caddys). Hence no-gos are: BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, French, Asian, American cars, Boxsters, Lotus etc). Oh, and no Lambos/Fezzers (although a 456 in gunmetal might be an idea).

The prices might sound steep, but remember that the German used-car market is very stable. I dont want to import a car from anywhere else (US/Dubai), and I dont want a RHD (had one before) as I am using public car parks a lot (esp. at airports).

So - what are your thoughts? What is the best Hermes-tie-as-well-as-House-check-car? Which car (of the above-mentioned) is the SW1 jack-in-all-trades? (MY current fav would be a rebuilt DD6 SIII).

Zum Wohlsein!

Or Bitter.

Not really sure I understand this...

Doesn't a Maserati Granturismo sound like exactly the sort of thing?

Thanks - Qporte and Gturismo are also on the list. They are the most expensive ones when it comes to insurance in Germany.

Haha, it would be "den" (=Akkusativ of "der" - cars are male in German language).
