What car for £25-30k?
Discussion
After letting my dad try out my newly bought Porsche Boxster, he decided to sell up his evo 8 (running 400/400) and wanted to try something different. The evo was sold a couple of days back.. So now we're in the hunt for a new car.
We've been looking at the 997 Carrera S and the 996 Turbo, but after some research, it appears that the 997 Carrera S has potential engine issues which could mean a full engine replacement. So that has scared us off a bit. As well as this, the car will need to fit a family, so it's not the best car to purchase, although we could squeeze into the back seats...
So;
Could anyone suggest a good performance car which could fit a family for £25-30k? The car must be reliable, the milage must not exceed 60k miles, something faster than the evo would be great, and lastly, it must not be too wide. We looked at the GTR (although it would mean stretching the budget), but it wouldn't fit in out garage anyway. (Well, it would fit, but we won't be able to open the doors to get out...)

Point-to-point, I doubt there will be much that could match the Evo. An E60 M5 would be in budget (500+ bhp)...but size could be an issue I guess.
ETA - here's an example but plenty of choice out there:

Funny the M5 was mentioned, only just read that comment after I searched for one! Seems like a sensible upgrade, 507bhp and still a car big enough to fit a family in
This one has 21,000 miles and is under budget at a shade under £27,000:

Actually, an M3 CSL might be an idea...slightly smaller dimensions than the M5 anyway.

Just remembered...the sound of the supercharger on this is awesome!
