A hypothetical question for sunday afternoon...

Apologies if this has been asked on here before, or you have lost friends / wives in the disagreements that follow, just found this interesting when I saw it asked on a forum a few years ago.
A jet plane is on a runway ready to take off, but instead of a regular runway, it is sat on a conveyor belt that is the same length as a regular runway.
Whatever speed the jet travels forwards, the conveyor belt matches this speed but in the opposite direction. The question is, does the plane take off?
