HPI checking/AA checks

Buying a new car sometime in the not too distant future.

I know about HPI checks and i have been doing some googling, but there are soo many options out there that i'm not sure where to turn. First off would you HPI check everycar that you buy? Regardless of what the trader tells you? Some adverts i have looked at it states HPI clear, but they could be making that up?

Who would you go with for HPI checks?

Also, AA car inspections (or RAC or what?) are these relevant on newer cars? (2006MY im looking at) If you would recommend a mechanical inspection, which company? I've never previously done this on my past cars.
