I know there have been threads recently here about Admiral renewal premiums, so I just thought I'd share mine with you.

Been insured on a multi-car policy with them for a few years now, and have renewed as there wasn't a huge difference in other quotes. however, I've just received my renewal notice from them.

Premium last year was for a Monaro VXR, a 20VT Fiat Coupe, a Ford Ranger and MrsC's C2, and was c.£1000 total.

Following fleet changes, this year's premium is for a 4.4 Rangie, the Fiat and the C2. I've had a fault claim drop OFF the details due to being over 3 years old. New premium: £2022!!

In preparation for this, I've already done some meerkating and I can insure all three cars, albeit on separate policies, for just under £800, with the same cover levels and broadly-similar excesses. That also takes into account a non-fault accident each in the past 12 months for MrsC and for me, which Admiral had failed to note or include, despite them having been told at the time of the accidents.

I've called Admiral and put it to them that their quote is ridiculous, and they took that on the chin and said that due to the large delta they didn't think it was worth discussing any further.

There's no particular point to this thread (although clearly it's a cool story) but just a heads-up if anyone else is insured with Admiral that you *might* get a better deal elsewhere.

CSB, and I concur. It is a fag to shop around, and I for one want to run over that small mammal whenever I see him, which is too often (talk about a joke that was not that funny the first time done to death and back again), but it's usually worth a few phone calls.

I go through the same rigmarole (sp) every year with Admiral;

1)Renewal lands on the doormat, invariably £100s more than existing years price.

2)Go onto an insurance search engine and get the best quotes for each car in the household (3 cars).

3)Ring Admiral and get them to match the best quotes (which are quite often their own).

4)Final Multicar renewal quote = £100s cheaper than original quote, job done! biggrin

they reduce it in the end
I'd read that on here previously and TBH I did expect them to try and get somewhere close, but they didn't even want to discuss it!

I'm just re-running the previous quotes. I don't know whether the other companies will be better or worse than Admiral for service but we've had enough trouble with MrsC's claim, and my father with another company, to accept that they're all just a necessary evil anyway.

Same for me. Every year I call them, they price match and I stay on. Except this year they couldn't be bothered as the gap was too big so I'm elsewhere.

Shame, not a bad insurer

Every year, and the guy admitted they just do it to catch out the lazy.

Wife accord type-s + Megane sport they wanted 1200.. In the end 620.
(I just start a new renewal with a slightly misspelt name to get the quotes)

People are just too complacent to bother to check.

Clearly they don't - but no, I'm in semi-rural Kentshire.
