Right, on behalf of a mate I'm getting him some ideas on what his next car will be.
He has: £7500 maximum to spend.
He wants: Something retro, usable and reasonably fast. No preference on saloon or hatch. No preference on FWD/RWD/AWD. No preference on N/A or forced induction.
He doesn't want: A 2.2 VX220, a F.I Mx5, a kit car of any type, an estate or a diesel.
I've tried suggesting all of the PH approved cars but he said no to each and everyone of them. frown
The floor is open to suggestions.
Thankyou in advance.

Whats retro mean in a car context,a modern oldstyle thing like the mustang or bmw mini?
If he wants a useable older car how about a stag or really good capri, neither will lose him money?
Or tell him to man up n buy a tvr, brave pills needed in that price bracket!

Oooh a Tiv, didn't think about that. smile
He didn't specifically say but by my reckoning, he's had an E30 325 sport, 3 205s an old Mini and absolutely loves things like MK1 & MK2 Escorts, Lancia Deltas, 205s etc etc so I'm hoping for that.

How retro?

Only things that spring to mind are saab 99 turbo, corrado vr6, or some kind of Porsche. Or a nice capri if there's any left.

E46?

In that sort of vain then a lovely 6 series sharknose should be achievable.
Probably totally out of budget but what do those bertone volvo 262s fetch?

So far so good, 944 Turbo gets a like.
I've now told him that if he doesn't even consider a Chimaera then I will disown him as a friend!
However, so much for my little objective list of retro, he's now debating an Evo 8 FQ 360?
I need to get him on a tunnel run and make him listen to a few Tivs to persuade him I think biggrin

Didn't want to suggest it until I got a deposit down on the one I've been looking at but how about a Jaguar S Type R?

Very similar performance to an M3 of the similar era, doesn't shout about it's performance, definitely looks like an older car and a beuatiful V8 sound track :-)
