Good service received shocker!
Discussion
Well I booked the Picnic in for 4 tyres (Uniroyals), and for an aircon service at 'Tyres Northampton'. They were the cheapest around by far, and no haggling required, infact only £1 dearer than the cheapest 'supply-only' price I could find online, and no BS to sift through either.
I was advised pads were low and brake fluid getting on a bit - indeed I knew the pads would need doing in the next few k, and the fluid was impressively manky. I was quoted a price I couldn't refuse for Pagid pads and a full fluid change.
Total bill came to £400. Not worth getting the tools out and doing it myself! I reckon the bill would have been more like £600 at any of the national chains...
So thats a recommendation for Tyres Northampton. They even have a laptop and an x-box in the waiting area, oh and free coffee and soft drinks.
I believe they do full geometry set up too, so well worth a visit.

Lovely report there fromBig Tomor to give him his full title, Big Tom, manager of Tyres Northampton.
I suppose it does read a little like that! It's just refreshing to receive genuinely good service and thought I'd share with the PH massive. Absolutely no other motivation whatsoever, promise

Blackcircles seem to be impressively expensive, I always use Camskill because I have someone right down the road who can fit my tyres nice and cheaply.
If, though, you need a one-stop-shop at a good price then you need to be lucky enough to find somewhere like the OP has, and there aren't many around now, so good on them

In what way was it "manky"? In the US they tend to test brake fluid for its water content before changing it, and some manufacturers say it should last the life of the car - they don't go in for the 'change it every 2 yrs' like we do.Also, should this thread be in the relevant regional forum?

In before the banhammer...I've recently discovered a brilliant Halfords Autocentre - Winchester branch.
They've had all three of my cars in for service and MOTs recently, every time has been brilliant. They all seem like petrolheads there (the staff parking has a GTI-6, an R32 Golf, a 200 SX..) and the prices are cheaper than I can buy the parts myself.
I doubt anyone on PH would believe me that anything associated with Halfords could be good, though.
