Have you ever done anything this stupid?

I have just returned for collecting a Phase 1 xsara vts with only 54k. I jumped on the train from Southampton to Bracknell, and saw the car. It's in reasonable condition, in a nice blue. The drivers seat has a little wear, but it was taxed and MOT till end of Sept. Over 800 was spent on the front end suspension last MOT!!

Anyway, I thought it was a good little purchase, so I did, but whilst driving home I notice it seemed a little underpowered. It was only then that I realised its the 1.8 rather than the 2ltr

I can't believe I have been such a tt. I wanted the proper VTS! Going to have to sell it now. Thankfully I only paid £700. Anybody looking for a cheap car? :cheese:

Yes, but I am coming from a 250bhp Busso V6....most things (to a point) feel slow

PS, Dont listen to that other chap, Xsara VTS is a 306 GTi6 on the cheap. Nothing wrong with that!!

lol! We all make mistakes.

The VTS is a decent car though, some say a little quicker than the GTi6 it shares the same engine with due to the gearing.

So you looked at the documents quite closely then? Nothing jumped out at you when you gave the insurance company the reg number and they read back the model?

If it helps, it cheered me up no end and I can say this now because I haven't made the same error - yet!
