just saw an advert for this company so I thought i;d see how much they'd give me for my Mint 2006 VW POLO worth around £6k

how generous they'll offer me £120 biggrin

lol

also it says they will give you a DVLA cert of destruction, so I take it they strip it and get a mountain of profit on the parts

Why would you scrap a car worth 6 grand?

Car take back is for cars that are about to be scrapped, why on earth would you get a quote for your car anyway? and why would it be a surprise? I think you misunderstand what the site is about.

I'm sure webuyanycar will give you a less insulting offer.

£6k for a 6 year old Polo? Is there a pile of gold bullion in the boot?

I think you're dreaming if you think your 6yr old Polo is worth £6k, no matter condition, spec or mileage.

But nothing has any inherent value, it's only worth what someone will pay for it :-)

Is there, perhaps, a chance that you've missed the point...?

To be fair, I thought the same but a quick look on Autotrader shows lots of similarly aged GTI's between £6-7k, if it's not a GTI I think he's dreaming, sure.

You're surprised they only offered you scrap value for your car?

Also, for what it's worth, I used them when I scrapped my 306 and they were great!

As you know doesn't mean they are selling for that. Yes, it could be a GTI but GTI owners normally say they have a GTI at every opportunity whether it be a Polo or a Golf so I'm sure he would have said. Would also have added even more gravitas to a pointless story :-)

the £120 value is crap value for the metal of the car. Thats why its no different to my mk3 fiesta that I sold to the scrap yard afew months ago for £150.

Sometimes I wonder to myself how many classic sports cars or hot hatches have been sold to the scrapyard.

I used them to scrap my Audi A4 when the timing belt went. Very good service for scrapping your car. Collected on a Saturday aswell
