I'm starting to get the need for speed again after a year in my a6 tdi covering 40,000 miles! I am thinking about a toy for nice weekends on or around the 7k budget! I've owned m3s, Porsches, Alfa 156 gta, blah blah blah! Would appreciate some opinions on what to buy! At the moment I'm split between a tvr chimaera and a 2000/1 m5! Leaning towards the tvr as it has only 2 seats, thus meaning the kids wouldn't get in it and I think the mrs would be too petrified to drive it! So I open this to you petrol heads and lets see what your thoughts are! Cheers

My choice would be the TVR...long term should be good investment (if you buy a good one)....M5 is a lovely tool but not quite weekend material more an everyday barnstorming monster.

Think that's the logical choice for me! As I commute from Edinburgh to work in Glasgow everyday the a6 is perfect and il keep running it til it dies! My toy would basically be lucky if it did 2000 miles a year so in the long run it wouldn't really ever depreciate! I do love the tvr chimera and especially the sound! Can't think of a better car to be honest! Anyone else?

I'd take an m5 over a tvr allday long. Some nob on this site has to run a suzuki swift as he cant afford to run his tvr due to its poor reliability and regular rebuilds

So that makes him a 'nob'?

Don't you mean your attitude makes you a "nob" every single thread you contribute to you abuse someone or something.

Your attitude stinks.

Sorry OP, no hijack intended, personally I would go for the Chim'.

Awesome car, you will not regret owning one!
