This may well be a stupid question but. I'v recently bought an automatic and while sat at the lights or in traffic I keep wondering. Is it putting any strain on the gear box/clutch and the brakes by leaving it in drive, or is it creating more wear from keep changing in and out of drive?

I leave mine in D at the traffic lights. If, after two minutes I havent moved, i tend to bop it into N, The general consensus for a slushbox auto is to leave it in gear.
