The Golf "squeaky earring" ad of the 80s was a classic as was the classy bird breaking up with her ex and chucking everything bar the Golf keys.

However, my favourite and you'll have to You Tube it yourselves is "the Vauxhall Chevette is whatever you want it to be" song/ad - upbeat, happy, really made you want a Chevette.

This is brilliant

This is good too (mainly for the music and graphics)

A nice Retro ad. I actually captured this myself off a VHS cassette and Mike Warner (who runs Mig) must have stuck it up on YouTube

This is pretty good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cvWHRS51oE

Maybe not 100% safe for work. But nothing that wouldn't be shown on day time telly.

No youtube access at work - but I love the peugeot advert set in India with the guy using the elephant to squash an ambasaddor into the shape of a 206.

The audi quattro adverts with throwback film showing the old audi quattros were brilliant too.

There are two, and I've never been able to find them on youtube or anywhere else. If anyone has a link to either (or even just remembers these cos no one seems to) I'd be most grateful. Both early eighties I should imagine.

The first was the original Audi Quattro and it went like this.

Shot of a glider, all serene, floating through the air toward a hilltop. Then a bright red Ur Quattro with black glass on a real charge up a dirt road up the hill trying to intercept it, big lairy powerslides, proper rally stuff. Then the glider all serene, then the Quattro blasting up the hill. Ends with the glider landed on the hilltop pilot swingting the canopy open, Quattro blasts into view, handbrake turn alongside the glider. Electric window goes down, beautiful blonde in the driver seat holding car phone says to pilot "darling, your mother's on the phone for you".

Second was empty Shell station, gentle wind noise. Porsche pulls slently in. Shot of car being filled, shot of purchases being made in Shell shop, a cassette tape, a pair of sunglasses. Then car door shutting, sunglasses on, ignition on, petrol guage flicks straight round to full, cassette goes in, "Born to be Wild" starts blasting out and the Porsche exits the petrol station and screams off up the road. Really caught my imagination at the time.

And to actually put an ad into the post, this has to be the ultimate motoring advert surely? driving
