An idle thought popped into my head - which car has the best (fuel) range?
Actually it wasn't that idle. Someone mentioned Mad Max, and I found myself wondering what the best car for that kind of apocalyptic scenario would be, but it makes sense in the real world too.
So - which car combines the biggest fuel tank with the best mpg? It doesn't need to be the most economical car, nor does it need to have the absolute largest fuel tank (which I suspect could weigh it down), but which car out there can go the furthest between fill-ups?

Nope. They needed a tank at least twice the size tbh. I could get 500-600 miles out of a tank though. But I'd have loved it if I could have more like a 1200 mile range.
t like a 1.5 diesel non turbo 106Living within a 4 mile rural walk of a USAF populated RAF base, my zombie apocalyse vehicle of choice has always been a military spec Humvee, with a trailer of motocross bikes for snatch and grab food and supply runs into more populated areas .... My vehicle would preferably come with a 50mm cannon!

You need to check out the zombie apocalypse thread that was kicking around a month or so back. That was excellent!!mat205125 said:

Military spec Humvees are dreadful to drive though.[/worseIvedrivenaHumveepostever]

56mpg combined with a 45 litre fuel tank. I don't think so.

Or at least it'll feel like your journeys are long ones...

t like a 1.5 diesel non turbo 106However drive it just a tad quicker or 5mph faster on the motorway and it'd drop to 44-48mpg. In all the miles and fill ups I did in mine I never once clocked it doing 50 anything, it was always higher or lower.
