Hi. I need to buy some diesel in a can. I have a 5 litre can which I think is red and I have previously used for petrol. Can I use this to get some Diesel or do I need to buy another can?
If I can use it for diesel will I be able to use it for petrol again later by ensuring it is empty?
Thanks. Sorry if this is a stupid question but just want to make sure.

I used a green one for diesel. Doesn't really matter about the colour assuming you know what's in it or has been in it. That said, I'd be cleaning it out thoroughly if it's been used to carry diesel. Then again, they're like £3 a pop so hardly worth the effort?

Red? Bloody hell that must be old.
I've used different cans for different fuels and they're fine, just make sure there's none lurking in the bottom.

A capful left in either way won't hurt anything....
