Elderly driver, plus reverse, plus auto box, plus wrong peddle =

There was next to no damage, just a scuff on the bumper, and a scratch on the rear door.

But I fear that if they drag it off, instead of lift it off, the car will be written off.

As well as the fence, there is also a public bench under there, fortunately, no one was sat on it.

Oh FFS pedants, a 121 and Fiesta are as near as dammit identical and for comedy purposes it suits.

Mazda 121. That's a car that really shouts 'Hollywood'.

Anyone who causes an accident due to "pressing the wrong pedal" ought to have their licence taken away on the spot

Getting the wrong pedal is bad enough, but then continuing to get the wrong pedal until you've driven through a fence and parked on a bench is fk!ng ridiculous!!!

If the fence and bench weren't there, when would they have lifted their foot off the pedal?

It's bloody lucky nobody was seriously hurt!

No, being pedant would be pointing out that it isn't an automatic, it's a CVT - Mazda never sold a conventional automatic for the 121

The problem with the elderly is that their thinking (and physical movement) is slower so even if he realised he'd pressed the wrong pedal and didn't panic, he would be slow to move his foot off the acceleration pedal and onto the brake pedal.

Something we all have to look forward to!
