Insurance renewal - what is going on?!
Discussion
I keep hearing that insurance is going up and up and was bracing myself for it to be a bend over moment when I searched on the meerkat comparison site.
My surprise was that fully comp, being self employed in a ditzy industry my renewal is almost half of what it was last year.
So this quote was with Swift Cover. Should I be looking for heffalump traps as it seems remarkably cheap!?!! (I have just bought a house and moved to a new postcode - but only a mile away from the last. Surely this does not change things that much! Oh and got married...)
I need a cuppa and a sit down now.

Perhaps the insurance companies have realised that folk REALLY don't want to steal your car?
(Happened to me when I had a £33k Electric car!)
It's a Corolla. I think it'd be far down the list on desirable to nick. Especially since someone has keyed it and I had an issue with walls jumping out at me.(Happened to me when I had a £33k Electric car!)

OP: What car?
Don't ask. It's embarrassing. No shame in a cheap motor. Everything to look forward to.

As a friend of mine said to his daughter when she objected to riding in his Peugeot 406 " A third class ride is better than a first class walk". She got in.

This is going to be a very unPH thing to say, but I genuinely enjoy driving my car. It isn't sluggish, very comfy and has served me well. We've already taken the decision to keep it until it conks out rather than jack it in for something more exciting. At 6 years old it's only ever needed consumables and has been very reliable. No shame in a cheap motor. Everything to look forward to.

Have you read some of the reviews of Swiftcover? Seems they're cheap for a reason. My surprise was that fully comp, being self employed in a ditzy industry my renewal is almost half of what it was last year.

I had a remarkably low initial quote from Swiftcover a few years back, and went with them. I didn't make a claim so can't comment on the generally poor reputation they have but they were very much cheaper than the competition at the time. Oddly, when it came to renewal time they couldn't get anywhere near a quote from Elephant which historically has always been best for me.
