Ok, the game is, next time you are out for a drive, count the other cars you see until you spot a car you would swap for your own - no money changing hands, just a straight swap. How far do you get?

Seeing my car is worth about 20 pence i'll swap it for anything

I'll then sell it and buy a car worth 30 pence

Mines 17 years old so anything reliable will do, so I guess that leaves Renaults out of the equation then.

Difficult one, it's certainly not exciting, nor is it a stunning coupe/roadster, however it is also coming up to three years old with me and I can't actually think of anything I could change it for that would do the same jobs with enough difference to be worth the cost to change. It's fast enough (3.0 TDI), economical enough (just...33mpg), smooth enough (executive car), big enough (estate) and has enough toys (Nav, Bluetooth, Xenons, Leather). It's only got 40k on the clock and there isn't really much out there that could better it. A 5-Series Touring or E-Class touring would be quicker and use less fuel while being more involving to drive, but that little lot would add up to a ~£20k cost to change. It's just not worth it for an everyday car.

My car is far better then it's monetary value, so I can't bring myself to sell it at the market price as I can't get anything nearly as good for the same outlay.

However, I would happily swap it for any other car of greater value which I can then sell and get something I do want driving

This is my problem, I don't really like my car.

But i can't think what I would swap it for in my price range.

But I'm taking the Passat out later so that won't take long. If it was the TVR though......

I'm currently in the process of trying to sell mine, however I have no idea what I want to get to replace it. I know what ever I end up getting will be a disappointment frown.

Sorry but yes, everything else will be a disappointment.

I would swap my Elise for an Exige, or a supercharged Elise. There isn't much else you see about that hits the same sweet spot for usability vs rawness. Caterhams are too impractical. Porsches are too good at being ordinary.

Lots of things I'd swap the 350Z or 9-5 for, though, just probably not much at the same price points.

I'd do the swap for the Daimler but it depends on a few factors, does he walk and talk yet? Will he pick up the 3 stage macguiars polishing principal and does he understand the importance of sealing the polish once its done?

The second two, yes, the latter one, I'm not sure he's quite picked up on that properly yet. Never mind.

But surely isn't this just 'How much is your car worth'.

I would much rather have my car than a Prius, but I would happily swap my car for a Prius, sell it and buy mine back with profit.

Basically, I'd swap my car for anything worth more! (Which is most of them!!!)
