What's not to like!

Very rare 6 speed manual - they are calling on Mon with a p/x figure for my car.

Maybe by Wed I could be in this fantastic machine!

That's a lot of quality car for the money.

I shudder to think about the mpg, you'd probably need to fill up again before you left the petrol station forecourt!

Wow thats a lot of car for the money, like the fact its manual too.
Thirsty and high tax are probablya small price to pay for the quality of car.
Go for it

I get about 50% back on fuel so no issue and only do 6000 miles per year so no probs.

Does it sneak under the band for tax - Band K prior to some time in 06?

did you not consider the M5 touring? only 1-2k more for a similar condition M5 saloon! If it has to be a manual+estate then the 550 does sound nice.

I think March 06 was when it went up. If its pre March 06, thats even better.

M5 vs 550i - have certainly thought about it. My logic goes something along the lines of that I want a manual and the E60 M5 seems to throw up a load of v expesnive issues whereas the 'simpler' 550i may not.

Probably utter rubbish mind you!

I am keen but it just depends on what figures the dealer comes up with for my car.

The fact its a prefacelift car and therefore has the same crap interior as a £6k 520d despite the awesome V8 under the bonnet frown

It also has no Xenons so you get reflector lenses not projectors.

Infact frankly given the market for these and the less than full spec I don't think its even a bargain.

Is the interior that bad?

I have owned an E34 and E39, as well as many other BMW models, and know that generally the E34 was regarded as bombproof, the E39 as a worthy successor and the E60 slightly lacking. I had a sit in a 535d M Sport Touring a few days ago and it seemed like a nice place to be.

Fox, I know you are an oracle on these things so what do you think is a good price? I think the thing that either sells it or leaves it in the lot is that it is a manual. For me it is great but I understand that most want an auto.

There is a very similar car on similar mileage, same age on the BMW AUC site for £13995. It's also an auto with better spec. Whilst I know you dont want an auto, the rest of the market does so a BMW Approved Used auto is definately worth more than 500 quid more than a manual from an independant. I'd probably be wanting to pay closer to £12k?

The man speaks sense. The fact you want a manual is probably very unusual in this market therefore I would expect it to be priced accordingly.
