I'll be getting a Nissan GTR early next year, but in the meantime I have 20k to spend on a new toy.

I've always driven Jap turbo'd cars, but my current car is an SL55 AMG which I've found is a bit too heavy for me and I've never liked convertibles lol.

Was thinking of maybe an Exige or a Noble but don't know how reliable they are. Any other ideas please guys?

I'm really liking the look of these at the moment. Something about the 'old school' long bonnet and N/A straight six.

Yeah I see what you mean, I like the look of that too. Apparently 0-60 is 5 secs which just about qualifies it for me, will consider a test drive in one of those smile

if its only for a short period I would go for something truly exciting before the bland and as always avoid anything Japanese.

Maybe a Cerb, Tuscan S, Esprit V8, Vette C6, a retro mustang, the vauxhall RV8,.................... actually maybe a cobra replica would fit the bill nicely

I love some Japanese cars, hence a GTR next year!

I love the Esprit and TVR's too, but it would have to be very reliable as would be used every night, not sure if I could consider those.

So an Exige with a Japanese engine would be perfect?

I use an Elise daily, although it has a k-series. It's been fine.

Yep, me too. If i had £20k kicking about for a car, that's exactly what i'd spend it on.

Wow...if that car has been properly maintained then I shall say that is quite a bargain!

£20k and you dislike convertibles but like Jap cars...hmmm very few Jap cars fall into that category for that price unless you are thinking something along the lines of a Supra TT 6 speed or maybe R34 GTR?

Just done 2500 miles in 9 days or so in a tuscan through Europe to Italy and back, been up mountains, been in 30+degree traffic, couple of hour sessions of 100+ (kph wink ) and it performed very well.

That said its been looked after, if you look after a tvr which has already had a rebuilt engine then they are reliable, neglect it though and yes i imagine they would be a nightmare. Granted they arent like an m3 or similar where they will just go and go.

20k would see me in a tvr either a tuscan or t350 or at a push a sorted evo9 with 400ish bhp.
