Got home after the school run and decided to look up the white Alpina I had spotted 10 mins before.

Everything looked very impressive on the spec list till I got to the list price - £80,000 !!!!!

For a tricked up 3 series that didn't even sound that great that is a heck of a lot of money.

Alpina make BMW saloons which are a bit better than the factory cars. Being that the factory kit is so very good, the argument can be made that an Alpina is an ideal daily driver.

VFM isn't really top of their agenda.

You seem to have contradicted yourself biggrin

£80k is a lot though.

The price of exclusivity. If you buy one you're not likely to see another.

A bit better? For an £80,000 price tag I would want something a heck of a lot better.

I accept exclusivity is certainly one engaging part of buying this car but apart from that I can't see how it can warrant such a high price.

At £80k it's a good £40k off an M3GT, which is the only other E90 to offer that level of exclusivity.

Alpinas are generally bought as a daily driver for the well healed. Personally, I think they work better in the 5 series shape. I'd dearly love an E38 V12
