Warrenty/responsability/sale of goods act/etc...

My car has a 3 year 60k mile warrenty, is less than 3 years old but on 65k miles, so out of warrenty.
Last month I had a fuel leak fixed by the local main dealer, diesel was pooling on top of the fuel filter housing and they replaced the diesel return pipe to fix it.
On friday I broke down, 1 month and 1000 miles after the repair. Apparently the fuel filter housing has developed a leak, contaminated the alternator belt, which has come off and caught the timing belt which has jumped. 7.5 hours labour to get the head off and they say the fact the engine won't turn over could mean a bent valve. The mechanic I spoke to just now said the job sheet for the previous repair mentioned corrosion on the housing and it may need replacing, I don't recall my reciept saying this and they didn't mention it when I picked the car up.
The garages customer services manager is off sick at the moment but the bloke I spoke to said they can try talking to the manufacturer to see if they can get any good will from them.
Question is how do I stand on SOGA or the like? I accept it's out of warrenty but should the garage be putting somethng towards if they didn't notify me there was a problem with the housing?

Bump for the evening crowd. Any suggestions?
Phoned them on Saturday, after they'd had the car a week, and they said it had bent some valves and they were sorting out a price list and will get back to me. Can't make up my mind if I should leave them to it in the hope that the longer it takes the more chance I've got that they might put something towards it, or if I should be hopping up and down demanding they get on with it and give my my car back.

sorry i know this isnt an answer you want, but id be surprised if the SOGA is any good to you in this situation, as you have had the car for an extended period of time, i might be wrong, but i would have thought thats the case.
could always give consumer direct a ring, they might well be able to help you out or at the very least tell you where you stand.

So the repair has failed? At which point you can expect a minimum of a one year warranty on the repair. So the garage would be required to remedy the defect in their repair.... If they saw something which could fundamentally fail then this is a matter which ought to have been brought to your attention.
