Shame to see them give up but I guess the EURO 5 requirements were simply too steep.......

Maybe we will see it again in hybrids and other vehicles?

PS What the heck is a Walkel engine? Any chance I can persuade the powers that be to fix my stupid spelling mistake in the title?)

It does seem to be a pretty inefficient design. I know someone who bought a 2009 model and it had over 100bhp less than my 7 year older M3 yet used alot more fuel?

The wankel never the massive and vast sums of time and money spent on its development to the same degree as the piston engine. Shame though as I love the sound.

There is an idiot in my village with an RX-8. It is beautiful in every way, apart from the back end where he has "enhanced" the original exhaust. It sounds OK ish, but he doesnt seem to realise that the size of one's penis is directly and inversely proportional to the size of one's "fat zorst".

And the size of one's shoulder chip is directly proportional to the amount of time spent on the Internet bhing about other peoples' choices? Live and let live, perhaps?

Heading O/T here:

I dont mind choices, I do object to defacing something purely to make it overly loud. If he decided to paint it pink, or put a body kit on it or upgrade the ICE I would not object. I may not like it but it is his decision to do what he wants to his car. I object to this particular car because the Exhaust is too big an too loud. It sets off car alarms on the way past! It is anti-social.

He may need that exhaust for all you know, after all the wankel Uses large amounts of oil and the emissions are terrible, so I guess he needs an exhaust the size of a dustbin lid to get rid of all the oil and smoke lol.

The wankel is basically a posh water wheel - petrol flows out of the tank, pushes the paddles round and pours out of the back.

I miss my RX7s, and the one I miss the most is the one with the 13B. Dreadful MPG, and the second slowest car I've owned, but so much character.

wankels are still used in aviation though, so they aren't entirely dead yet.

Am I the only one that finds "wankel" amusing?

No.

But you are the only one who thought they might be the only person clever enough to see the joke.

I think that's rather a good way of describing it smile

It's a pity, but inevitable. At least I got to own one for a while, an RX7 twin turbo which was pretty immense, totally different drive to anything with pistons.
