Was out earlier on the m/bike & saw a Vectra I think with a blue sun strip top of the windscreen. Looked like Nigel in white letters!

I remember when these were everywhere back in the 70's/80's.. I wonder why something so cool & stylish faded away?? wink

Could have been worse - it could have read Formula Shellhehe . (This was a "new type of fuel for the future" that wasn't, errm, very good in/for some of the most popular cars of the time. It was withdrawn from the market after a couple of years.)

I guess "built in" sunstrips kind of negated the use of aftermarket ones, and so the whole trend as it was died out. Sometimes people fit external sunstrips nowadays though, but generally not with names on.

PS did you know that there's a red BMW 5-series with the first five letters of your username on its sunstrip, on Auf Wiedersehen Pet series 2??? smile

I saw a Passat a few weeks ago with a sunstrip. It said proudly in big white letters "DIESEL".
And it was stuck down at the bottom of the screen eek

I had a Patrick Motorsport sun strip on my Allegro 1300. When I 'upgraded' to a 1750 Equipe!! I had a Duckhams Motorsport sun strip on the car.....

Still cringe even now when I think about.

Not cool but very crap.

Still a least I didn't have Tony - Diane on a Triumph Spitfire that one of my mates had done when he got engaged. He got so much grief for that when he first appeared with it.

Tacky & horrible.

Truckers used to sport big sunstrips saying " We're Riding on Bandags"

I'd have posted a picture, but Bandags are so out of fashion that google gives the seach results for bandages
