Found this when trawling the net: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C308980

Thought it was a little different from the norm, would be pretty awesome to use as a track car or make it more usable for the road and go beemer baiting biggrin

by the way, chaps I e-mailed about the Volvo:

Reply said:
Dear Pothole,

Thank you very much for your inquiry.
This particular Volvo ex works car that we are offering is known as TL03 and it is a 1984 racing-car.
Within the first year of its live it was sold through Volvo Portugal to a national racing-driver.
This driver raced the car for many years and won several national championships with the car.
It did last race in 2011 in some Portuguese demo-events.
The engine of the car has only done 1 hour since the last rebuild.
The spare-engine that will come with the car as well, needs a rebuild as it did over 10 hours.
The car is in very original and on-the-button condition, as it was always raced since 1984.
This car has never been crashed or re-bodied.
Neither has it ever been updated or modified for more modern racing.
But for present FIA sanctioned races it will need some adjustments as , for instance, it still has its original aluminium rollcage.
Seat, belts and extinguisher will need to be adapted to the present rules also.
The asking-price for this ex works car is 145.000 Euro.

With the car are 8 extra wheels, various small parts and some un-machined cylinder-heads.
Then there are 4 well-stuffed binders with lots of data and documentation on the cars history.

Look at the following link: http://www.240grupp-a.se/eng/motor.htm

This is a website by one of the best specialists on Volvo racing-cars.
It will tell you about all types, teams and years.
Also who Lindstrom was, the constructor this ex works car.

Under: http://www.240grupp-a.se/eng/volvo_grupp_a.htm

You will find a.o. this particular car and its history.
I can mail more details on its history on request.
Serious and sensible offers or propositions will be discussed with the owner.
Look forward to hear from you.
Kind regards,
Marcel Roks

I remember seeing Gillander's old 240T rally car at a single-venue event in 1994. It looked a bit tail-happy but in a straight line it was ballistic - leaving a full spec GpA Escort Cosworth for dead.

145,000 Euros is ridiculous even considering how rare the car is. I was betting on a maximum of 50,000. Even with a lottery win I wouldn't pay that. Mainly because you could turn a normal 240 saloon into something not too disimilar for a fraction of that

It's not easy apparently but the red top engine from the 740 turbo the B23FT or B23ET slips in relatively easy and since it has forged pistons and rods you can take it to about 700 bhp plenty of advice around (in swedish)
