Every now and again you come across a car that you know, despite the owners enthusiasm, is no longer for this world.

Is it wrong that part of me really wants to see if that can be saved? I know it would make no financial sense whatsoever given how cheap Mk1 MX5s are anyway but god help me if I had the room...

It didn't look too bad until I got to the picture that shows it having no rear screen! Imagine sitting through a winter as damp as last in that condition.

Crikey.. that's a good 6 hours away from me, it's probably cost more to go get it then I could buy a working one for locally!

Far, far worse than that has been restored but the finished car has invariably been more exotic than a MX5.

Indeed.. a sobering tale of woe that helps me curb my urges to adopt stray cars!

Although in all fairness it took some SERIOUS neglect to fully kill the poor old tank

It's saveable very easily, as long as chassis is fine and engine goes alright, 2k or so turns it into a very decent kit car for some track fun... DO IT

There's that, admittedly pig ugly, Ariel Atom style kit. It'd be spot on for that.
