Profile is a good start.

Usual PH rhetoric, but cheap tyres are (imo) a false economy on anything but a cheapo snotter.

I used to have the Jag X-Type 3.0 (very similar car/engine) on 17 inch rims and it took Pirelli P-Zero Asymmetric at £100 a corner which were pretty good and hard wearing (Jag spec).

Can you not get a better brand on 18 inch for around £100?

ST220 is 100% 225/40/18... Count yourself lucky they're not 45's as they're a lot more expensive.

I put Vred Sessantas on my old one. If I was putting a new set on one tomorrow I'd use Goodyear Assemetric 2's. Wouldn't touch cheaper stuff. Overrated Falkens etc

Your ST is a similar car to my Skoda Octavia VRS.

I use 225/45 - ZR17.

I've tried quite a few brands over the years, on various cars. On my 911, nothing but Michelin Pilot Sport 3's would give the grip, driveablilty and longevity the Porsche required.

They are expensive - but they are amazing, and very difficult to beat.

So I put a set on the Skoda, and same again - utterly brilliant in every way, and with swapping them front to rear to share the wear, are needing replacement shortly, having covered 26,000 sure-footed and trouble-free miles.

I don't know where you live, but here in the South we have an amazingly cheap tyre place called 'Micheldever Tyres.' They do a set of four 225/45 ZR17 Michelin Pilot Sport 3's for my Skoda for £450, fitted and balanced.

For that price, budget tyres can take a running jump!

Probably a cliche, but I wouldn't trust my and my pasenger's lives with anything else nowadays.

Most of my cars run on FK452's, never had a problem with them.

I have Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2's all round on my ST220 and can't recommend them enough. Grippy in the dry and wet and much quieter than the continentals they replaced. Seem to be lasting well and wearing nice and evenly too.
