Freak storm leics - £1 million plus insurance claim
Discussion
Hi all, just a quick check to see anyone was unlucky enough to have their car in form service etc over at Bentley / bmw / porsche Leicester yesterday?
For those that don't know the midlands experienced major storms yesterday with hail stones as big as golf balls. I was over their today and they were dealing with th aftermath.
Unfortunatley a number of customers cars where outside at the time causing the cars to be peppered with dents and widescreens broken. Some where more effected then others but even the suggestion of cars being written off!!!!!!
The dealership where being really great about it and was sorting with the insurance company whilst I was there.
Given the number of their own and customers cars effected this could easily add up to £1 million plus claim as witnessed upwards of 12 cars alone at Bentley.
BMW and Porsche leicester are also said to have had the same weather so it could prove to be an expensive day for sytner group.
Sorry to hear in advance if anyone has been effected. I was just interested to hear how the dealer handled it with you and what happens next reference repairs and hire cars etc considering it was an 'act of god'

Funnily enough, if I had done what I had planned that day my car would be a complete mess right now.
I took a last minute job at work, which earnt me a pretty penny and saved my car...
I was speaking to someone today who said a local jag dealership had a few complete write offs as well.

If you were one of the customers in question I wouldn't say 'unfortunately'... I think you got a lucky escape!Far better the car was under someone else's care and goes through their insurance cover, than being outside your house and goes through your own insurance (if you even had any)
I am guessing some difficult conversations are to be had as I don't know that I would want a car back that has ever panel replaced ........ Will customers have any rights to demand replacement rather than repair?
Unfortunatley with the value of most new bentleys being £100k plus it's going to take some damage to writet it off.
Strange as it seems to be very regionalised aswell. I was only a few miles down the road and experienced nothing but sunshine.

A bit O/T, but I had a lucky escape once from a sort of similar thing.
Where I used to work nights at a printing factory in South London a few years back, the car park was adjacent to a big railway viaduct - it carried the main lines into and out of Waterloo.
I happened to book a random Wednesday night off work for some reason, can't remember why.
Anyway that particular night, some horrible little scrotes were up on the railway track buggering about, and thought it would be great fun to hurl stone ballast from the track bed down into our car park onto the cars
What's worse, is that when some of the chaps went outside to see what all the noise was, saw the scrotes, and shouted at them - instead of running away, as they were pretty much invincible from their vantage point, they laughed and threw even more stones - at my colleagues!
Little buggers.
Every single car had at least one busted window - most had busted screens, and lots of dentsto bonnets and roofs. It was enough to write off two of the older cars there.
I got away with it though!

We were doing an advanced driving session through Newtown Linford during the storm - I has 2 associates with me .... one driving, one in back seat with me in passenger seat ..... we coped fine with it and so we should as we worked out that between us we had over 150 years of driving between the three of us !!!
