I've been searching for petrol but can only see "unleaded". Diesel is always diesel however.

As it's been a generation since "leaded" was available, the term "unleaded" is now daft.

Yet everyone calls it a "petrol station".

And we got rid of "Derv" on pumps.

Can we reintroduce the word "petrol" on pumps? Or is it just me?

If you can't tell the difference between petrol and diesel without a sign on the pump can you be trusted with filling a car?. wink

For as long as I can remember petrol smelled like petrol and diesel didn't.

Be thankful that they aren't "gas" stations.

Do diesel drivers call it a "diesel station"? biggrin

Actually, I think a better term would be "Rip-off station", or maybe "wallet-emptying point"?

Apologies, post would have been prevented by breathalyser on my laptop.

Pedantic linguistics really. We're PetrolHeads. Yet they've banished the word "petrol" from petrol stations and replaced it with "unleaded".

Which is now a redundant daft word as you cannot buy "leaded".

Hence post.

Well, you continue crawling around and sniffing nozzles, I'd rather just read the sign and remain looking normal. wink

And the funny thing is that Diesel is the engine type, not the fuel biggrin

You're all wrong - it's clearly a "gas station". wink

But then isn't the traditional British expression a "filling station"?
